I got up at 6.30 a.m. today to install my knitted artwork to raise awareness of Domestic Violence . The piece is sited in Hastings Old Town,  the High Street, next to the Penny Beale Memorial. Penny’s mum has produced a video call ‘ Breaking the Silence‘ that tell hers and Penny’s story. Please take time to watch it.

Before I was married I was in a relationship very similar to Helen’s. This made listening to some episodes very harrowing. Having the local connection to this work is very important to me. It’s not just an Archers storyline but something that affects people where you live.

I think that the BBC should be congratulated for tackling such an important issue through the characters of Helen and Rod Titchener.

Fans of The Archers inspired by the plot have raised more than £76,000 for Refuge, the domestic violence charity.

I love knitting and the Archers, so it’s great to be able to combine them for a good cause.
