Celebrating the life of Rollo Ahmed, a friend to Dennis Wheatley and Aleister Crowley, and the author of The Black Art, a key figure in the exploration of esoteric traditions. Ahmed lived in Harpsichord House, Hastings Old Town in the 1950s.
A writer and dabbler in mysticism, Rollo Ahmed was an associate of the occultists Aleister Crowley and Dennis Wheatley. What brought this Guyanese national to 1920s Britain and to Hastings Old Town in the 1950s? What can his experiences tell us about the ‘spiritual underworld’ of East Sussex or Black life in this period?
